Course description

This qualification addresses work in roles that usually involve service delivery, either direct client work and/or community education or development projects. Workers at this level operate at an advanced skill level. 

Entry requirement

  • Minimum level of English Requirements IELTS 5.5 (for level 3 countries only) and/or a suitability of entry interview with an AGB Representative. 

  • If you would like to study in Australia at a university or tertiary level then you may be eligible for the Higher Education Sector Visa (subclass 573) or Postgraduate Research Sector Visa (subclass 574). If your intention is to study a non-award foundation studies course or components of a course (other than English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) that does not lead to an award then the Non Award Sector visa (subclass 575) may suit your needs. For those who intend to come to Australia to undertake English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) the Independent ELICOS Sector visa (subclass 57) provides this option. In some cases it is possible to package your studies on the one visa subclass. For more information please see Course packaging.   • Preferred entry pathways for candidates considering this qualification include CHC40708 Certificate IV in Community Services Work OR
    With vocational experience in a supervisory role but no formal qualification. The breadth of expertise would equate to the competencies required to undertake this qualification. 

  • To gain entry into CHC50612 Diploma of Community Services Work candidates must:
    1. Be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units of competency from CHC40708 Certificate IV in Community Services Work: CHCCS411C Work effectively in the community sector, HLTHIR403C Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers OR
    2. Have sufficient relevant experience and knowledge of community work and/or community services to indicate likely success at this level of qualification in a job role
