Why VET ? Why Empyrean?
What is Vocational Education and Trainning (VET)?
Vocational education and training (VET) is that part of tertiary education and training which provides accredited training in job related and technical skills. It covers a large number of careers and industries like commercial cookery, retail, hospitality and business. VET aims to provide people with the skills and knowledge essential to start working for the first time, refresh as well as upgrade skills and knowledge and ultimately helps them to move to further study in VET or go to university.
There are two types of study after a student’s secondary education is completed. The first type is to go to a vocational school, which teaches not only theory but also provides practical experience in a chosen field. The other type of education is academic theory training at a University which teaches theory only. At the end
of a University course a student has little or no practical training in their chosen field and many students find difficulty in finding work. However Vocational Education prepares a student for real life work and provides significant experience so that at the end of their course they are ready for work with a great amount of work experience behind them making them much more attractive to future employers at your home country or in Australia.
Additionally it is much easier for a Vocational student with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma to enrol at any University in Australia, but much more difficult for a University Graduate to obtain work without any Practical training. This gives a considerable advantage to a Vocational student. Indeed most of Empyrean students are already in work and Empyrean’s Internships and Job placements provide a steady source of income during their study years.
